Completed Projects..

Some of you may be wondering what I've been doing lately on the crafty side of my life..
Well, quite alot really but have not been able to show and tell until we had our first visit from Bethan and Lirys.
As you can see from above Lirys loved her new jacket, made from Sirdar Snuggly, Baby Bamboo.
Below, is another pattern from the same book, Debbie Bliss Simply Baby. I used Debbie Bliss yarn for this.

Lirys and her mummy loved them..

They came for a week, which was extended to 10 days when Lirys was diagnosed has having chickenpox and was unable to fly back..she had a couple of grizzly days but, all in all, for a nearly five month old, smiled through it!!
That gave Bethan and myself some more time to make an Advent Calendar that we are sure will become a family heirloom, cherished for many years to come by Lirys and any other siblings that may arrive..
We couldn't have spent so long on it if it hadn't been for 'pappoo' (see behind Bethan's elbow) who valiantly spent hours entertaining Lirys.
We raided my stash box, cut out 24 rectangles, ironed hems and zig zagged the top of each pocket. Bethan wrote the numbers on 24 stars and then appliqued them on to the rectangles.
The finished piece was hemmed and will have a length of dowelling threaded through the panel at the top. Ribbon will be tied to the dowelling and it will be hung on a wall in Bethan's home.. I'm looking forward to seeing it full of little presents when we go to the UK for Christmas in December.

ps...apologies for the poor quality of photos..since having my super duper new camera ( which produces wonderful high quality photos) the res of photos on my blog have deteriorated.. has anyone got any ideas why or what I could do about it??
Take care

You're a better grandma than I - the advent calendar I intended to finish for the boys is still sitting in my basket.
The sweaters are sweet - I especially like the striped one....and of course, your model is the cutest little girl!

Love, love, love the babies modeling their new sweaters!!! So cute. I love Debbie Bliss patterns!
Have some of her books.
I did see the dad playing with the baby behind the mom before you said so...sweet. I am sure it's the baby entertaining the dad though and not the other way around. ;-)
Great Advent Calendar!!! Sweet! To be filled with sweets!

I just have to correct Lynn a tad.. it's the 1 baby modeling both tops (my daughter).. and Papoo who is seen entertaining her behind me is Grandfather (my Step-Dad and not my baby's Dad!!!)

Glad there is so much praise for the Advent Calender as well as my scrummy baby!

You must miss them now. But what a treat to have them for the extra few days.
Do you resize you r pics before uploading them? perhaps you're making them too low res? Or do you leave them and then blogger resizes them?

What a gorgeous little baby! Those extra hours with both your daughter and grand daughter must have been so precious. Lovely advent calender. Definitely a family heirloom.

Glad you used your extra time so usefully! Great calendar and jumpers - you better start knitting some more for Christmas - if the weather stays like this here (-10 today) she'll need them! :D

I am so sad that I did not get to see the little model but she is lovely. The advent calendar is great, and I am sure will come out year after year

Adorable baby, so glad that she didn't suffer too much and that you had an opportunity to get 'crafty' with Bethan - like your new look blog too.

We even have snow in St Ives now! Lesley

What a cracker of a wee one Lirys is, and such a gorgeous, unusual name!
I think the advent calendar will become a very treasured heirloom in time, and I love the little baby clothes you have knitted too!

Sending love
