Gosh, had a bit of a busy week here.
I have been working through the night at the local hospital, caring for a gentleman. Sadly he died,he's at rest now.
Last Monday was Clean Monday, Katharo Deftera, the first day of Great Lent. There's always celebrations going on somewhere and we were lucky enough to find a wonderful setting for such a celebration. We were invited by some friends, so after a couple of hours sleep in the morning we set off.
The tiny hamlet of Adrianos is at the beginning of the Adrianos Gorge but if you didn't know you would drive straight past, missing some of the most stunning scenery around here.
It's very rural with just a handful of residents but they know how to party...

Hi Jude,
your prize posted yesterday,
Have a great week
Jean
hey never heard of clean monday before.
Your pictures are so beautiful, I love seeing them. I have never heard of clean monday before - do you clean on that day?
Oh, this sounds like great fun! And the scenery is simply divine. I love kite flying and partying. I keep forgetting that it's not winter where you are! Ha!
Oh to feel some of that warmth!
Clean Monday is something quite new to me - love to learn about different traditions.
Thought about your comment about the old man at the hospital, I wondered was he Greek or English.
Interesting post and pictures about a tradition. Best wishes Blu
Blu; he wasn't too old and English.
Clean Monday is a celebration and still very popular here.
Jude
I am very taken with your lifestyle and your blog. It sounds very similar to something I and Mr Grigg have planned for a few years' time. Do your first few posts tell us how you got there in the first place?

PS Clean Monday - what a great idea! Cleaning, once a year.
So sorry about the patient who passed away.
Clean Monday - I could use one of those here! Maybe even every week.
I love the thought of clean Monday - what a concept.
Sorry about the patient who died...

Wonderful scenery and great photos. I'd heard that the old gent you were caring for had passed away.
I think that we are due for a clean monday here.
After a brief intro to spring the weather is miserable now.
Hey Jude - you won the soft cover version of MISS Em - can you email me your address? I hope you like it,
Jude, You make me dream of visiting your paradise. I love the photos you post!
LOVE Greece so am now going to drown myself in an orgy of nostalgia going back through previous entries. Ah, can almost smell the herbs and the woodsmoke....sigh.
