I've been tagged by Bindu of Transient Lives.
I had to publish the 6th photo from my 6th folder and write about it.
Well sadly, not much to say really.
I love taking photos and I also love playing around with them.
This is a poinsettia, a beautiful flaming red. I wondered what it would be like in black and white when it was covered in rain drops.
I used to have PhotoShop but unfortunately, it was lost when my old laptop fizzed and died. Yes, it did fizz... I dropped Coke on it!
I'd like to pass it on to 6 others who also love photography.
Here are the rules;
1, Pick the 6th photo from your 6th folder
2, Tell a story around it
3, Pass it on to 6 others.
I would like to tag....
John of Des Reves in France
Pipany of the Poltisco Memoirs
Soulbrush
Kate's Corner
Sally's Chateau
Cynthia of Oasis Writing Link
Don't forget to tell whoever you tag and link to their blog.
Good luck!

Beside the Sea....
I'm not trying to rub salt in the wound.... but we are having glorious weather here.
The tavernas are empty.
Whilst I was driving Geoff to work and waiting to go to choir practise, I popped down to the beach.
Couldn't resist it, it's over 20 degrees (68f) and nobody is here!! It's a ghost beach!!
I'm sorry about all of you who are up to your knees in snow, sleet or ice. I'm sorry if it's raining, windy or just horribly miserable.
I thought I'd send you a few rays of warm sunshine. No, honest, I'm not gloating, I mean it!!
Our weather is going to turn rather nasty soon and we will have loads of rain and maybe some snow in a couple of weeks but for now...
it's glorious!!
p.s. go say hi to John here, he's new in blogland (and his son is going to marry my daughter in Sept. so we ought to be nice to him...)

It's a Gift....
Look what my friend Sandy made Chris and I..
They are so pretty, thank you Sandy!!
She's been very busy this week, her huge quilted cushions are really coming together.
They are rather difficult to photograph because of the beautiful taffeta that surrounds them which reflects the flash.
Here's a close up of one showing the different Japanese prints in the centre, including that carp in the corner.
And here's Chris modelling her scarf , now including a pompom to finish it. She knitted it in a couple of nights. It's going to England with her next week.
As for me, well I'm STILL tying knots and tidying my last quilt. It takes so long but I'm determined to finish it before I show you. Not long now, I promise.

Cup of the Day
Sukipoet posted her cup of the day this morning, I thought what a friendly thing to do, Why don't I join in....
So here's mine, the cup is from a lovely shop in Elounda and is thrown by a local potter.
I drink Rooibos tea, black or strong black coffee, preferably freshly ground.
What do you drink and from what???

Looking forward..
I find myself alone today. Something that rarely happens these days. As I look around I can see many chores to be finished. But first, a moment to reflect.
We had a lovely quiet Christmas, which is what we wanted. Full of walks, food and our own company.
I worried about my son, spending Christmas Day alone in London. Not an enjoyable thought. He spent the Christmas nights as a volunteer in a shelter for the homeless. Good on you!!
Then the excitment of the engagment and all the chatter and laughter that went with it. Geoff continued to complete jobs around our new house in readiness for our guests, a bathroom door was top of the list... Jose ran around knowing something was about to happen, but what?? I fussed, as only a mother can, who hasn't seen her daughter for 8 months, making the house cosy and hoped they would like.
The week went too quickly, filled with plans and laughter. Walking on the beaches, watching those two sharing words and smiles. We played board games, ate and drank. We chatted and saw friends and family as far afield as Thailand, New York and London, thanks to the wonders of Skype. I loved going with Bethan and watching her as she tried the biggest, frilliest wedding dresses on. We both shed a tear, her face was a picture of pure joy. My little girl, playing, dressing up.
We climbed up to Minoan/Roman sites and Geoff told us about the history and we closed our eyes and tried to imagine this area in those times.
They are back in Saudi now, still planning. Both back to work.
So,here I sit, with lists of plans.....
The sun is shining, shall I walk before I start on my chores, it would be a shame to miss the sun on my face and the weather is unpredictable atthe moment.....

Epiphany
Epiphany comes from the Greek word, Epiphania, which means 'to show', 'make known' or 'reveal'
Throughout Greece it is celebrated by a priest blessing a cross and throwing it into the sea three times. This is to remember the 3 miracles that manifest the divinity of Christ.
Each time the cross is thrown in, young men dive into the sea to retrieve it. They are then blessed by said priest and receive an icon each. Notice everyone else are wearing warm clothing..
The weather was warm and sunny this morning but by the timeI drove home we had a thunder storm...

Baubles....
I haven't seen my tree decorations for years as they have been packed away.
I loved unwrapping them and remembering their history and stories. My mother gave me one that she bought when I was born, it's done well, it's glass!! I have the ones the children made when they were small.
But it's time to say goodbye, sleep tight, until Christmas 2009.

Special Hearts
Look at these beautiful brooches I bought from Dogdaisychains, one for my daughter and one for me. I'm so pleased with them. They look bejewelled as the velvet pieces look rich and opulent. We are both really pleased with them.
