Dooby, dooby, Dubai!!

Ok, I know, I visited Dubai in May..
You can imagine how many photograghs I took, 100s....
I've tried to make a blog of it but it just didn't work, I couldn't choose!
So, I've taken the easy way out.
The first collage is mainly in and around Dubai. There's some photos of the ski slope!! and the ice skating rink inside one of the malls.
It's so hot over there, one just doesn't wander around like I'm so used to, I felt like a fish out of water sometimes. We did go to the beach and swimming was out of this world, it was so warm.Unfortuneately, it is illegal to take photos on the beach.
We had some fabulous meals out, one at the Buddha Bar, very swish..
Another activity not to be missed if you ever go to Dubai is a 'Dubai Brunch'.. it started at 12.30 and we finally crawled out dragging our heavy stomaches with us after 3.00. We met friends of Bethan's and had views to die for from the 30th floor.

Then the one above is of 2 trips we did, one was on the Big Red Bus, well recommended, to see the souks and waterside.
My friend Liz and I also went dune dumping, the desert was amazing, I loved it, I had a henna tattoo, and we ventured off on a camel.
I think I'll gradually drop more photos into different posts, I wanted to get these out and to thank Bethan xx and Liz and Kev xx
I had a wonderful time
It felt like a completely different world.

Oh man! I am so jealous! I have always wanted to go to Dubai. A couple of years ago I met a young man who lives in Dubai. I wondered if, when he lived there and saw it every day, did he still appreciate the beauty of it. He did! Lovely. I wish that you could do a week long presentation...maybe you could???

Hello!

Your trip looks amazing! I saw a documentary not so long ago about the place and it seems almost surreal!! Shame you cant photograph the beach though, wonder why that is?? Never mind though, you have some gorgeous snaps, and no doubt lots of glorious memories too!

Sending love, Julia xxx

These are amazing. I had no idea it was so modern there. Funny to think of camels and cars in the same place. Nice collages.

Now I don't know you but i am guessing you are the one in the white hat and if so, the other two are your daughters..or is it just one? Well whatever, she/they are the spitting image of you.

Great pics! And looks like so much fun. So many different experiences - the contrast is clearer when you put them together in a collage.

i've never been tempted to go to dubai - it all sounds so artificial. but that's what progress is all about i guess...
meanwhile, back to the natural world!

I love all of the pics!!!
It looks like you had a great time with your daughter:) It's too bad that taking photos isn't permitted at the beach though! I guess I'll have to go and see it for myself one day:)

I've seen much on tv about Dubai and would love to travel there. That dune dumping looks like so much fun and I love your tattoo!

I really like that idea too, the collage! I missed seeing these two blogs somehow until this morning. Looks like such a wonderful time you had! The closest I've gotten to dunes was in Oregon State on the US west coast many years ago. That dune dumping looks really fun!!! Lovely pics, Jude, sorry I missed this before. :)
