I was pleasantly surprised when I took the car in to be serviced this week.
The young chap asked if I wanted a lift somewhere, rather than sit in the garage for 2 hours.
So he dropped me at Almyros Beach. This was a favourite of Jose and mine when we lived on the boat. We'd walk to this beach on a 'pedestian only' path every day, then Jose would run up and down the beach while I threw sticks and beachcombed. Of course, it's covered in sun beds and umbrellas in the summer months but we'd be up extra early and sneek on at 6.30 am. before all the sun worshippers arrived.
That's Aghios Nickolaos in the distance and you can see the masts of the yachts if you enlarge the photo. I felt rather sad as I walked along, still expecting to see the little white mutt come running up to me. But the view is stunning and I love walking by the sea.
Looking back to where I'd started.
There's a beautiful cove along the way, a little stony for some but that means less people!
This taverna is new, wasn't here when we walked along here!
Looking over a fence I noticed this cockerel eating last nights left-overs from a cafe.
Now, talk about secluded! these 2 have found a lovely little spot, you can find these gorgeous spots if you have a dinghy. Maddie!!
These chaps must have been extremely important!! Fantastic views from the dead centre of Ag Nik!!
Bit too hot for Crazy Golf.
Well, we're nearly there now. This is Ammos Beach, one of the town's beach's, it's lovely and clean, close to loads of cafes, taverna and amenities. This is where I used to swim when I lived in the marina as it's next door.
I used to swim around that break-water.
I'll leave you now, time for a cold drink before I do some shopping and pick up the car.
Hope you visit again soon!

Lovely walk Jude, You will have to show me sometime.
Lovely Jude, especially the hibiscus, it's sunny here at the moment (ten past 8 on Saturday evening) but probably a bit chillier than where you are!

what a lovely view, it's gorgeous. I would love to jump into that crystal clear blue water
Wow, I feel so refreshed from my swim, and my drink with the rich people...and I especially liked the walk past the chicken and the sunflowers before I got in my dinigi and paddled along the shoreline.
What a beautiful walk. Your area is just amazingly beautiful! I know you still miss your pup but I'm glad you have such fond memories. Thanks for sharing all the scenery and info! :)
You'll have us all wishing to be in Greece - especially the secluded beach and the taverna. They're like something out of a travel book. Lucky you!
Oh Jude, this is so lovely! And so nice that you could visit again. I love the shot of the couple in the secluded area. I am not much of a sun worshiper, but I think I could manage that walk. So pretty.
lovely walk - perfect way to fill in time
I think the beaches in crete are among the most beautiful in the world. You are so lucky to live there.I must go back some time, as I found it such an interesting Island.
Oh my stars Jude, those pictures are breathtaking! I desperately want to travel there now! I am, for sure, a water baby, and I tend to centre all of my travels around the sea! Your pictures are very inspiring!

Oh my, I am counting down to Friday. Five more sleeps and I'm in the Ionian. And yes, we have a dinghy to find those lovely secluded spots. Boy, are we lucky. And you, living on Crete. xx
Hi Jude. I really enjoy your posts of Crete. Normally I'm a UK girl (because I get all hot, bothered & tetchy when it's too warm), but I'm getting very tempted by all your pictures of te coves & fauna. Might have to sneak in your suitcase....

?How many more weeks to the wedding?
Gorgeous...
beautiful and relaxing. Much, much better than sitting at the repair shop for 2 hours:)
What a very beautiful part of the world you live in. Sigh! I'm glad you had some time for quiet reflection when the beach wasn't busy with visitors and you could have a bit of space to think about the good times. Early days.
I feel as if Ive just had a little holiday...such amazing pictures, that crystal blue water is something else isnt it!!
Im sure you miss your pup achingly so, but Im glad you have fond memories of the little chap. Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful pics and memories here.

Crete is so beautiful with so many lovely places to visit. The grave belongs to the Koundouros family. Nikos Koundouros, who was born in Ag. Nicolaos,is the most known, coming from a family of politicians.

What a wonderful place you live in!
I've just been catching up on your posts, having been t'interent-less for a while and I was sad to read about Jose. I hope you're feeling a bit better now, it must have been a terrible shock.
Your walk certainly cheered me up, hope it worked for you too!
What a lovely romp, great pictures.
Blissful walk, thanks Jude. The pebbley cove and crystal water is calling me.
Sighhh! How stunning!
(I hope your pain is easing a wee bit...I still expect to hear Bella's claws skittering on floor!

I want to be there. I fancy a dip in that sea.
Hiya Jude
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you re. the bowls, I did try your email but this stupid computer won't run outlook (or what's more to the point, I don't know how to make it). They're kind of breakfast bowl size and sell for £24 each. Beautiful pictures on here as ever. Sunshine in Devon today. I'm off to Wenford again next week - just bought Michael Cardew's old kick wheel which is pretty exciting. Have a lovely day.
Hello Jude!
You have such an interesting life!
Greetings from Italy!
What a gorgeous walk!! So serene and blue. It seems like such a nice place to live.
You live in a beautiful place. Great photos.
lovely post! Yes, I did get your address and your loot should be already in country. I hope you enjoy it!
Wow, if it was your intention to attract visitors...I'm sure your inspired a few people to head over to Crete. That water is a dream realized, Jude. BTW I gave you an award over at Oasis Writing Link (OWL) blog. Come over and visit me, read about dreaming...and see how much I value your friendship. <3
It looks lovely Jude. But old misery guts here would like to se more of the countryside. No pleasing some people eh. I hope you're ok and getting over your loss. x
Many thanks for popping by my blog. What a beautiful place you are living in - I'm somewhat envious as we're in the middle of winter and it's been very cold and very wet! x
Man how I look forward to visiting there...love the photos, and hope you had a great fourth!
