A Touch of Sunshine....

We are in the midst of a rather dull and wet period, not condusive to going out, let alone walking.
So, I spent a morning creating a little sunshine myself. Three jars of lemon curd.. made from freshly picked lemons, not a drop of wax near these and eggs, given to me by a neighbour, with yolks the colour of the sun, (proper eggs, as my father calls them).
My freesias are suffering, the weight of rain is making them drop.
The mountains are covered in cloud too heavy to lift themselves up.Everything is shrouded in mizzle.
We did manage a drive over to Elounda. This resort was made famous by all the film and music stars that used to go and stay there years ago. The television series Who Pays The Ferryman and parts of The Lotus Eaters were filmed here, anyone in the UK remember them??
This is where, suposedly, Robbie Williams has a home. There's always rumours of sightings each year....
There's quite a big ex-pat community living here. We did get out of the car but were back inside within 10 mins as the rain came down in stair rods and the wind was blowing a hooley..

Guess what?? How time flies when you're not looking, I've just realised it will be my 100th post next time. Puts me under alot of pressure, especially as I enjoy filling my post with photos of the countryside and we're having glum weather.
Anyhow, I'll try.

The sunshine in a jar just looks delicious!
And stair rods, now there's a very old expression! I use it and my children get very cunfused, stair rods are no more :-( don't think I've actually seen any for years. People with stair carpet (we don't do carpet) have that horrid grip stuff underneath that bites your toes when you have no shoes on.
I hope the weather changes soon and the sun and lovely walks return!

Yummy that lemon curd looks great. I love Elounda and that whole area, The tv programmes were a very long time ago so I dont really remember them.

It is a delight to visit your blog. I love the idea of capturing sunshine via delicious lemon curd.

We are still very much in end of February greyness over here in New York. Thank you for brightening the day!

The Elounda area is very beautiful but, sadly, indiscriminate building of developments is going to spoil it very soon if something isn't done to stop it.
Yes, I know the tv programmes were a long time ago..... but you can always find somebody here with a video of the whole collection!!

Yummy, lemon curd is one of my favourites. I love making it, eating it, looking at it! Lovely post Jude though sad to see your poor freesias. Golly, as I typed I swear the smell of them pervaded the room (makes a change from nappies!) xx

I've never had lemon curd. I'm not particularly fond of lemon flavor, though.
I do so love freesias. I grew them one year in a pot on my deck and the fragrance was heavenly. Must do that again this year.
"Mizzle"! Our weather girl said this only just tonight, and it was a mistake. She liked it so much she thought she'd invented a new word! Your photos are always so breathtaking.
Congrats on your blog post. I checked mine today and it was 365! My one-year anniversary is this weekend.

Haven't ever had lemon curd, but it looks inviting! I'm sure you will find a way to post a great slice of Greece even in glum weather ... more pressure. ;)

Oooh that lemon curd - heaven in a jar! There's nothing that I like more than lemon curd between the layers of a white cake - can just taste it!
You and I are nearly twins, as I've just posted my 101st blog post.
Once again - lovely pictures!

i remember having lemon curd in new zealand - it's not something the locals make here, is it?

when the weathere is really horrible in crete, it's best not to drive. the roads are bad, the driving is difficult, and the best place to be is in the comforts of your own home!

Hi Jude, this is my first visit to your blog. What beautiful pics you've got.
I also love homemade lemon curd, it is a thousand times better than store-bought! Yours looks wonderful, a beautiful colour of sunshine. I love it eating straight from the jar and filling tart shell with curd, lemon, orange, lime.

Oh such lovely sunshine in a bottle. How wonderful that must taste. Love lemon anything. I used to grow freesias for my mom. she loved them so I would plant them for her. They have such a wonderful smell. Great photos.

I love your sunshine treatment...I have never had that lemon curd. It sounds bright and lively. I'm glad you got out to Elounda, I think I could walk there even if it were wet...so beautiful. I hope the flowers survive! And Jude...may the sun you crave arrive soon. <3
