Still Waiting.....for Easter.

I'd like to thank everyone who commented on my last post, I had over 40 between the 3 groups of flowers. I've never had so many!!
In typical Greek tradition my back door is surrounded by an array of plants, miniature roses (bought from Lidl last year and stll alive!)geraniums (cuttings collected from random places) honeysuckle, I thought it wasn't going to survive but it's now romping away! mint, gardenia and stephanosis, both of which are in bud now. They are in an assortment of recycled containers, including the large feta tins that the shops have. On the chair is the latest carrier bag of lemons to have been delivered by neighbours, they are so succulent and fresh.
I've completed this cushion. Following Attic 24's instructions it's made from recycled items. It's for a friend's 'big' birthday. unfortunately, I did not go to her party.
Today is Palm Sunday, some people are still fasting, not eating milk, cheese, anything with a backbone etc. The bells have been ringing and the priests chanting since very early this morning and this week is a build-up for next weekend, when there will be huge celebrations. Plenty of lamb and kid will be roasted and bbq'd.
Finally, the monster! Look at him, butter wouldn't melt??? He still doen't understand 'no' and loves chewing anything that I wear..
He clearly loves Geoff and dispairs of me, as I don't laugh when he scampers in with half of a beloved plant of mine in his needle sharp teeth.

Your door and plants look so lovely - and in the warm sunshine too. Displays like that always look so much better in warm mediterranean countries than here in the UK. What a pretty cushion, just right for snuggling with, I'm sure your friend will love it. So, is Easter a week later in Greece than elsewhere? Something to do with the Greek Orthodox church I imagine. And what a cute puppy, but quite a handful I bet.

Your cushion looks lovely, nice colours. The monster is beautiful and getting big. Geoff must be feeding him too much haha. Got some seeds today for ALBIZIA. Will give you some, 30 is a bit too many. Pleased all your plants are doing fine. C'ya.

Happy Easter Jude. Your little monster is adorable. We had a chewing problem with our dog when he was a pup. We would tell him no when he was chewing something inappropriate and give him a rawhide bone to chew in place of the item. In about a weeks time he caught on and forgot about being naughty.

So much to catch up on. Gorgeous wedding gowns, exquisite orchids and wild flowers, rainbows, beautifully handcrafted cushions and the most adorable pup in the whole of Crete!

What a cutie he is. How could you stay mad at a face like that?

I love seeing your world and all the plants and flowers you have. I guess we all do judging by the comments. Aren't we all curious of other parts of the world?

Your cusion is gorgeous.
Happy Holiday to you and your little family.

We once spent a holiday in Crete while we were working in Arabia. Just found your blog this morning at 2 a.m. and decided I needed to return this afternoon.
The weather here in mid-Missouri [located in about the center of the U.S] is damp and very chilly today. Spring cannot make up it's mind to stick around.
Now, aside from the wonderful photos you've posted I want to tell you how much I am attracted to your crocheted granny squares. Your colors are so very attractive. Makes me want to drop my knitting and pick up my hooks.
Thanks for making the day a bit brighter.

Hello Jude, and Happy Palm Sunday to you.

Your sunny back door is beautiful ... perfect for a calendar page. I love the idea of using big feta cheese containers.

Lucy over at Attic 24 certainly encouraged me to pick up crochet again, too. Your cushion looks great.

Now ... that pup! No wonder he is getting away with a lot.

Best wishes.

The appealing look on that little rascals face!He is so cute. I remember the chanting, as we were in Crete for some celebration, and the quaint little church was across the road from our Appartment.
Would love some of those lemons to bottle.

What a cutie that pup is. Do you have lots of fireworks in Crete at Easter? We were in Athens a couple of years ago for Easter and forgot it's later than ours in the UK. An amazing experience, with spit roast lamb and lots of fireworks and happy people.

That's a wicked dog Jude. I bet you love him really.
I love the idea of lemons being left on the back porch and being able to use metal containers as planters, I'm sure they would rust through in one season here.
I have just got a load of old wooden boxes and an oak barrel from the pottery that I'm going to use. They have been hanging around for donkey's years by the looks of things and they were only going to get thrown away so I thought I'd put them to use.
It sounds like everybody does the real Christian Easter over there then? Is there any paganism mixed up in it?

Jude, He is really cute! As you say butter would'nt melt. You should have called him michivious as he looks it. Speak to you soon. Taek care Gill xx

I'm sure your Easter will be all the more enjoyable for the extra wait! Will you blog about some of the interesting food traditions? I remember working with a Greek woman long ago - she'd bring in the most delicious treats at Easter time.

So it is not too late to wish you a Happy Easter!!!!! The pillows look wonderful....what an adorable pup! Big hug.

Oh but your 'monster' is delightful! And your door area and plants looks so lovely in the sun. Just one question why haven't you had Easter yet???
Bags of lemons? Oh sooo envious!

PS no we don't live on an island (more's the pity) although there is a lot of water here one way or another - often falling out of the sky!! South of Oban and west of Glasgow, draw two lines and we are not far from the crossing.

Jude hi! I love the way the Greeks plant their geraniums and basil in old tins, especially those lovely olive oil tins.
Thanks for the comments on my blog - I have added more info on biodynamics on my last post!

Going to log off now and pick up my trusty hook....still working in the round on my Somba cover...! HOW can you call him a monster; he was perfectly well behaved outside my house this afternoon, tucked like a little parcel under your arm...mmm! maybe thats it...you could post him somewhere!!
Tell you what..lets make a huge rag rug with the contents of my husbands car...what do you think?
